Add your strength to the network

There are three. The Open Network is open to any institution or individual and runs on shared activities, workshops, and programs. Associate Membership is for those engaging deeply who cannot yet meet every consortium requirement. Consortium Membership is for institutions ready to lead transformation across the network.

Through the Open Network, institutions and individuals engage with one another through activities, workshops, and programs built around their goals. It runs on the Communities of Practice, the June Convening, and the Learning Hub, and it is open to everyone.

It is for institutions and individuals that are actively engaged but cannot yet meet every consortium requirement, and who commit to engaging deeply with the Collaborative. Associate members tap the network's pool of resources and funding, apply for grants to pilot new approaches, lead sessions in knowledge-sharing spaces, and help drive communities of practice. Consortium members are the network's partners for transformation. They share exemplary expertise in teaching, management, and leadership, engage peers across their country and the continent, help shape strategy and programs, host and co-organize hubs and convenings, and lead special projects under the focal initiatives. Membership is institutional and governed by member regulations.

Consortium members review their progress every year and commit to three things: contributing their own expertise to mentor and support peer institutions; drawing on peers' expertise to strengthen their own systems; and building sustainability by engaging in their regional hub and in communities of practice, shared resources, or convenings. They also commit to annual self and peer evaluation, to tracking graduate employability, and to taking part in the Sub-Saharan Africa University Rankings.

Member institutions in good standing that show clear evidence of expertise in a focus area can be recognized as Lead institutions. As exemplars, they can engage in a contractual capacity, for example as a focal-initiative lead or co-lead, a co-organizer of the June Convening, a grant committee member, a hub host, or a member of a hub due-diligence committee.

You join a highly engaged, driven community. You can expand your network at events and programs through the year, build practical knowledge through webinars and expert sessions, collaborate through regional hubs and communities of practice whatever your size or stage, and draw on an extensive library of publications, research, guides, and grants to pilot solutions on your own campus.
